Study abroad is the most traditional teaching method in the world education history. In western countries, 5 eastern scholars studying abroad were written about in the Bible; in eastern countries, thousands of years ago Confucius headed all his disciples to travel around kingdoms in China, so as to increase their knowledge, develop their characters and broaden their vision.
In modern time, the formal study abroad, also called study tour, originated from England and it has more than 100 years history up to now. Its original purpose is a tour aimed at providing school students to enrich their knowledge, broaden their horizon, increase exchange and social experience, so as to coordinate their study in the school and fill up their deficiencies. Practice proves that this studying method is greatly beneficial to cultivate students’ body and mind and develop their language capability.
Since Chinese becomes more and more popular all over the world, many experts and professors in American universities from UCE meticulously design two programs to study abroad in China, and learn Chinese. They are Long-Term project (8 weeks) and short-Term project project (4 weeks), which are in order to suit different students' need.
“2010 Study Aboard in China” is a brand new program carefully designed by US-China Education and Culture Exchange Center (UCE), and is oriented to any American college student who has a passion for China and wish to learn Chinese. The starters of the Program are UCE and ZJGSU, the latter one being one of the most famous universities in China. All the other schools in this program are Institutes of Higher Education in China too, faculty of which have excellent teaching qualification and experience.
